Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is an endoscopic gynecological procedure used in cases of illness such as infertility, recurring miscarriages or abnormal uterine bleeding. There are two separate types of hysteroscopy:

  • Operative hysteroscopy
  • Diagnostic hysteroscopy

The procedure allows for evaluating and removing pathological changes of the endometrium. Throughout the procedure it is possible to visually assess the cavity and cervical canal and the uterine ostium. The procedure also allows for assessing the presence of adhesions, polyps and fibroids in the uterine cavity. Currently, hysteroscopy is a routine test in infertility diagnostics. It is also an invaluable method used in treating infertility.
